Fall Cleanups & Why is it Important?

You’ve worked hard to keep your yard looking perfect all summer long. Fall maintenance is important in order to give your grass and flowerbeds the nutrience and oxygen it needs to thrive for next year!

• Proper Mowing: Just because the days are getting cooler and it is raining less does not mean you need to forget about mowing. Our professional mowing team will keep your lawn mowed at about 2 inches to ensure that it still gets the important sun, water and oxygen it needs to thrive.

• Weeding, Flower & Tree Pruning: Fall is the perfect time to get rid of those weeds. The longer you wait means the more you will need to pull in the spring and if the snow is not deep enough you will have to see the dead weeds & remanence of summer! You'll want to pull your annuals and cut back your perennials to ensure they are healthy in the spring. Ensure you remove all the dead or dieses branches on your tree before the snow falls to prop a healthy growth in the spring.

• Raking Leaves: The fall months might look beautiful when the leaves change colors but after the first wind they all fall off the tree and start to litter your lawn! If leaves are allowed to remain on the ground, they will choke off the grass by reducing water evaporation. Plus, they can harbor mold and fungus, while also allowing insects to infiltrate the grass and ground. In some cases, diseases from the trees can also be transferred to the ground and grass roots, which can kill your lawn (Fairy Rings)

• Fertilize & Overseed: One of the last things on the list is to make sure your lawn is fertilized with the proper fall Fertilizer. This will give your grass the nutrients it needs to survive the cold winter months ahead. Overseeding your lawn before the first frost also helps your lawn fill in the dead spots in the spring and gets into those hard to reach areas when the ground is nice and wet from the spring thaw.
